Hello Dr. Roberts, How would having RA, rheumatoid arthritis have on getting a second
class medical? Steve E

......................................................................
It should not be a factor as long as you can safely operate the controls of a
plane.

Dr. Roberts, I may have gout (still working on the diagnosis). As a professional pilot (my
living comes from it), how will this affect me? Will it prevent me from getting
a first class medical? Chris
|
......................................................................
Gout usually affects the large toe joint of the foot, but may also affect
other joints and the kidneys. In the majority of cases, it is a
self-limiting disease that may come and go. During an acute flare up, it is
often difficult to walk, due to pain.
The FAA is concerned when that condition inhibits your ability to safely
operate the controls of an airplane.
Most patients are put on Allopurinol prophylactically. It is an FAA
approved medication as long as you are not having any adverse side effects
from its use.

Dr. Roberts, I have been suffering joint and muscle pain for the past 18 months.
My Rhuematologist calls it undifferentiated arthralgia and has prescribed
Oruvail to reduce inflammation. Will this affect my 3rd class medical? Jeff
|
......................................................................
Oruvail is an approved med. You will need a letter from your MD
saying that you dont have any untoward side effects
